Fall Photo Session (a.k.a. The Blog Is Not Dead)

October 26, 2010

Since my Etsy business has completely taken over and photography has taken a backseat, the blog has been stale for a really long time. But I finally have some pictures worthy of a blog post – yay!

I took my two out for some fall pictures last week. I honestly thought I didn’t get any good pictures at all – they were NOT looking at the camera, nothing seemed to be going right…

Much to my surprise – and delight – I discovered that I was wrong. I did get quite a few images that I really like.

I saved the best one for last. This will go down in history as one of my all-time favorite images EVER! I like to call it:

Driving Miss Emmy

And just for fun, a year earlier to the day – same kids, same truck:

Emma’s 2 Year Portraits

August 28, 2010

Well, the day is here…Emma is two years old today!! I still can’t believe it happened so quickly…

A few days ago, I took her out for her 2 year portrait session. Now, you’ll just have to imagine the second balloon in most of these since it up and popped about 10 minutes into the session!

My favorite…

And a little stroll down memory lane:

Happy birthday my funny, silly, talkative, loving, beautiful Emma!! We love you so very much…

Emma – 23 Months

August 7, 2010

All too soon it was time for Emma’s next monthly portrait session. I know I said it last month, but I just can’t believe she’ll be two later this month!

She is easy-going most of the time, but when she gets going, she gets GOING. She goes through several meltdowns a day.

She’s also starting to talk a lot more, using lots of 2 word sentences and also repeating whole sentences at times (“Zip it up” was a good one…I wonder where she heard THAT one :))

She loves to make us laugh, she’s such a little entertainer.

She loves her ‘friends’. They always have to come upstairs with her when she gets up in the morning and after her nap – all three of them! (One is missing in the image below)

With that smile and those bright blue eyes, is it any wonder she’s got her Daddy wrapped around her little finger (well, to be honest, she has all of us wrapped around her little finger…)

And I just can’t resist adding a picture of her curls.

This image reminded me of an old favorite from March 2009, when Emma was only 7 months old:

Wow, how she’s changed…

Summer Evening

July 21, 2010

Last week, we went over to Hedvig’s Trail after dinner. I had wanted to take some pictures of my kids there last summer, but it just never happened.

I’m actually surprised I got any pictures I like because neither of them wanted anything to do with having their pictures taken. I was in for a pleasant surprise when I started editing the images from this little session…

Emma at 22 Months

July 3, 2010

I’m so glad that I’ve done monthly portrait sessions with both my kids. I did them with my son Joshua until he turned three and sometimes I wish I had continued after that, it’s so much fun to look back at the images and see how much they’ve changed.

Here are a few images from Emma’s 22 month portrait session. I can’t believe she’ll be TWO in only a couple of months. She is growing up much too fast, but at least I’ll always have these pictures to look back on…

As always, click on the images to see them larger – and sharper!

Playing with the Light

June 10, 2010

A couple of days ago, some friends came over with their little ones. We had a fun little get together and when we went out in the backyard so the kids could burn off some energy, my friend Amy was standing there with her son Ben. I noticed how the sun was peeking through between them and just had to play with that back lighting.

I really like how these turned out. It’s so fun to try something different, get those creative juices flowing.

A lot of these were processed with my favorite Lightroom preset from Pretty Presets – Summer Glow.

I also really like this one:

Here’s a picture of the ‘rock art’ my kids left on the deck railing…

And I have to add one of our other friends who came to visit, Kelly and her handsome Aiden:

And one last one because it makes me laugh. I like to call this one ‘The Ben Sandwich’

Return to the Little White House

May 29, 2010

I took my two little ones back to the little white brown house a few days ago. I got so many favorites last year and was hoping I would get some more this time around. Plus I was on a mission to get a nice picture of the two of them together for Daddy’s desk at his new office.

Hmm, I think one of these will work quite nicely…

Or this one…

Boy, those two sure do love each other! Well, at least most of the time:

Emma wasn’t so into the whole taking pictures thing and I had a hard time getting her to look at me. I finally got out my cell phone and kept playing the ring tone. Which lead to a little bit of dancing:

Why yes, it WAS a little breezy that afternoon, why do you ask? 🙂

And I don’t know why some of these look so blurry, but if you click on them, they will pop up nice and sharp, just as nature intended.

Old Favorites…and new favorites

May 26, 2010

A little birdie told me this blog was getting stale so I figured I better put up a quick post…

This is a mix of some old favorites, taken of sweet Emma last October (my word, she’s changed a lot in the last 6 months!!) and some new favorites, recently taken of my new Iceland poppies.

As always, you can click on these to see them larger.

Some of these were processed with the ‘Summer Glow’ Preset from Pretty Presets. I think I’m in love…

Bubbles and Blue Sky

May 16, 2010

The other night, we were enjoying the nice weather (yes, we’re finally getting some decent weather around here!) and we were blowing some bubbles.

The kids had fun and so did I, capturing some pictures of bubbles. I love to play with the camera and capture something different!

Now, the first one is one of those pictures that just make my photographer’s heart flutter when it comes up on the monitor!

Just One…

…from my (rained out) 4 year session with my son Joshua today. More in a couple of days.
